15-17th February 2008 DSA Club St. Valentine's Week-End The DSA Club will be organising the now annual St. Valentine's Dance week-End at the Don Pablo Hotel in Torremolinos.Cost £79 per person for two nights on H.B. It will be held from the 15th-17th February 2008. For bookings contact Tony Lima or Jimmy.

10th March 2008 The Annual Country Outing/Picnic to Tarifa! Yes , its the return of the ever popular Country Day trip(or better known as Michael's Practise Day) Dancing included.

14th March 2008 Bingo Party Night.CANCELLED TILL APRIL 25 Yes! A Bingo Party Night BINGOOOO! THIS EVENT WILL NOW BE HELD ON APRIL 25th.

28th March 2008 Dance Session & AGM. Annual General Meeting followed by Dancing.

12th April 2008 Treasure Hunt Party Night Treasure Hunt will start at 7.30 p.m. and it will run for about 2 hours. Free Hot Dogs,chips etc will be served after the Treasure Hunt. Those members who will be giving the Hunt a miss should come along around 9.00 for dancing and hot dogs!

17th May 2008 May Ball Again the May Ball will be held at the Alboran Hotel in Algeciras(Spain). Further detail will be available at a later date.

28th June 2008 End of Season BBQ & Dance Our season comes to an end with the End of Season BBQ & Dance. Further details at a later date.

9th September 2008 National Day Dinner Dance We start the season with the Gibraltar National Day Dinner Dance.

18th October Anniversary Ball The Anniversary Ball will be held on the 18th October 2008 at the Central Hall.

31st October 2008 Halloween Fancy Dress Party Yes! its a Halloween Fancy Dress Party this year! Trick or Treat! Have plenty of sweets ready!

20th December 2008 Christmas Ball The Christmas Ball. Details to follow at a later date.

31st December/1st January 2008/9 New Years Party Again! Yes , its the New Years Party time again! Starts at 1.00 a.m. on the morning of the New Year, and we dance the first day of the year till we fall, usually around 8.00 a.m.

What is a typical dancing programme? 1 Veleta Waltz 2 The Dirty Mambo 3 Ravenglass Rumba 4 Carldean Quickstep 5 Saunter Santarna Interval 6 Valentine Tango 7 Blueberry Swing 8 Rumba D'Amour 9 Red Rock Jive 10 Cappucchino Cha Cha Cha

What is a typical dancing night at both clubs ? Sessions start about an hour before the dancing with a beginners/new dance session.Then the dancing programme starts with around 10 to 12 dances. Each dance is danced twice with different music.In the interval the committee organise a raffle. Drinks avail.

I will be in Gibraltar on Holiday. Can i Attend a session? Yes. Just contact any of the two clubs and they will be glad to welcome you to our dance sessions here in Gibraltar. If you need help just e-mail us here,we'll help out.

Can i join any of the clubs now? Yes, both clubs are again accepting new members. Since their move to their new premises at the Central Hall they have now far better and bigger fascilities. Both clubs allow couples to visit their dance sessions as guests, so just pop in to see us!

I have never danced before ! Can i still join? Yes certainly! Both clubs have Beginners sessions but the best way to learn is still on the dance-floor, following an experienced dance couple who will guide you through the different dances and techniques!

Can I attend a Dance session? Yes, both clubs allow couples to attend dance sessions for them to see for themselves what Sequence dancing is all about.These sessions are free to guests. You will be allowed to attend some sessions for you to decide if you would like to join.

How much are membership fees of local clubs? Both local clubs have annual subscriptions.(DSA Club £20 per couple)(CCC Club £32 per couple)

Is dancing healthy? Studies have shown partner dancing exerts just as much energy as swimming or running.Dancing helps you burn calories and at the same time socialize with friends.

What dances are taught? There are thousands of different dances taught and danced in Sequence.Mambo,Cha Cha,Salsa,Rumba,Waltz,Quickstep,Jive,Tango are among the most popular.

What is the difference between Ballroom and Sequence Dancing? In Ballroom and Latin dancing couples dance their own routine of steps in the order they wish but in Sequence all couples dance the same routine of steps of 16 bars of music at which point the sequence is repeated until the end of the music.

Some common Club rules.



Tables Tables or chairs are not reserved exclusively for anyone.

Courtesy with the Ladies Gentlemen should accompany Ladies to their table after a dance.

Teaching Sessions Silence should be observed during a teaching session. Teachers find it very hard to give instructions whilst everyone is talking at teaching sessions.

Gala Nights Black tie should be strictly observed at Gala Nights. No exceptions will be made.

Using the Dancefloor When you are going through your paces on the floor try to make full use of the Floor area. Try to make the dance area as large as possible by dancing evenly spread out and as close to the edges and corners of the dancefloor area as possible.

On the dancefloor. Never run across the dancefloor whilst couples are dancing. This is not nice and very dangerous!

Learning a dance If you dont know a particular dance and would like to join in then get behind a couple who know the dance quickly and ask them if you can follow them. No one ever refuses, they always say 'Yes'. Its just courtesy!

Dress Code Both clubs have a 'No Jeans' policy.
